25 Days: Hand-Made Stockings

Like most families, we have certain decorations that we have to put our every year because they hold so many fun memories. The Baby’s First Christmas ornament, the wooden doves my parents made the first year they were married – they may not be the most trendy but they are so meaningful that it just wouldn’t be Christmas without them. My absolute favorite holiday decorations are our stockings – when I was little, my mom found a pattern for sewing custom stockings, and made them for my half-brother and myself (this was before my little sister was born). His was a Nike sneaker, and mine was a Mary Jane with a pink lacy sock. We’ve used them every year since, and I love them. Since then we’ve made my dad a jester sock and my sister a high-heeled shoe. Now that my sister is married, we should probably make one for her husband! I wonder what shoe he would like?
